Conceived and imagined by Adib Nakad in 1949, the kites festival was very quickly transformed into an annual event, gathering kite-flyers coming from all over Lebanon.
In 1963, Middle East Airlines (MEA) stressed on highlighting the importance of this event by sponsoring it, offering to the winners numerous valuable prizes.
This playful aviation meeting takes place in Mhaydssé, in September of every year on a field known under the name of 'the airport of Mhaydssé'.
A special evening ends that day, during which prizes are handed to the winner, without forgetting the election of miss beauty.
More than sixty years after its launch, the kites festival remains an annual gathering appreciated by all ages.
Native of the region of Mhaydsseh, the Rahbani brothers and the famous Lebanese singer Feyrouz immortalized this festival in 1949, through the mythical song 'Tiri ya
Tiyyara Tiri' of the movie 'Bint el Haress'; shot mostly in Mhaydsseh. Click the TV icon
